Big Deal

Yesterday was the Parsons' Senior thesis show at the Grand Hyatt. Aside from the charity show being a huge deal, it was really exciting to be able to watch the show. Julie Gilhart, fashion director at Barney's, gave an opening speech, telling everyone to watch out for us because we are the next generation of designers. The selected senior designers are who we all aspire to be; a rising designer talented enough to be the creme de la creme de la creme and featured in all the press throughout the city.

The show was covered by NY Mag, was on the front page of WWD today, with Bo Bae Lee's phenomenal knit (and by phenomenal I mean out of this fucking world). My mom even told me that the Chinese newspaper covered Sarah Lee's crazy graffiti inspired collection. Yesterday and today was all about Parsons, and it just reminded me why I'm here putting up with the amount of work I do.

I just felt compelled to write about my excitement and pride in my school.WWD on Parsons 2008

Hearts on Fire

Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours is so good. Granted I'm sure most people are sick of 80's new wave revivalists but Cut Copy has stopped taking themselves and music so seriously this time around. In Ghost Colours is just a very light, catchy and fun album; you can't help but love it and I think it'll be a staple to any summer rooftop party playlist.

Thank goodness the weather has also stopped taking itself so seriously and lightened up. If it gets below 55 degrees again, I might just hop off the docks of the Hudson River Park.

And because it was actually 75 degrees today and sunny, I took a trip to the Hudson River Park. Sitting on a perfectly level field of AstroTurf on the waters with the kids and the gays was the best thing that's happened all month. I was out in the sun all day and finally got my good fix of endorphins to shoo away all the negative thoughts that have been in mind. I watched these 2 gay guys play paddleball against eachother; it was really fascinating and they were really good! Even better was this 4-year old boy who was practicing his goalie skills with his dad. The kid was diving and flying through the air and catching every single ball his dad shot at him!

Simple things like these shed a lot of light on my outlook. I've just been feeling so down lately and my heart has felt so heavy because I keep getting let down. I'm just going to take things by the day and make notes-to-self to enjoy things like AstroTurf and the lingering smell of the sun.

Here's to summer, you've been long overdue.Currently Listening to:

Subsided Ulcer

Sorry about the last post. I had to. Things are much better now that I've recovered and school is approaching its end for the year. There's the summer to look forward to, FIT classes, babies at Shelter Island, tanning (duh)...

Um, I don't think I ever gave a report on the Crystal Castles concert, or show, rather. The show took place at Studio B in Greenpoint, on March 25th and boy was it packed. The venue of course, oversold the show and there was absolutely no room to even dance, at all. I went with Alex, Trey, Tiff, Stacey and Jason, but as soon as the show started, we all got split up, thanks to the jerks who kept pushing the crowd. I felt like I was on a ship that was caught amidst a nasty storm!

Crystal Castles came on about 2 hours later, and played a very short but sweet set. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it weren't so crowded. I expected the mosh pits and violent crowd, but I didn't expect the crowd to be so BIG. I blame Studio B for the somewhat unpleasant experience. Poor Tiff, Trey and Alex got into fights. I got farted on by the sweaty hipster in front of me, and the girl in front of me almost got trampled over.

Yep. Pictures were absolutely out of the question when I couldn't even stand without holding onto Jason for dear life.

That's all for now.

Oncoming Ulcer

Before I go to bed, I'd like to share with you how awesome the past few days have been, because if I don't let it out somehow, I will have an ulcer.

I've had a stomach virus for the past few days, leaving my bed only to vomit and shit my insides out.
-Thus, falling behind on work, and deciding that Maura Jurgrau is an asshole for not cutting me any slack on the duedate for this fucking project (yes, and I hope anyone who Googles her name will read this).
-Thus, missing days of school out of necessity instead of leisure.
-Thus, not being able to clean as often.
-Thus, the house seemed to have gotten messy and dirty the following day of my previous cleaning.
-Thus, the ants seem to have multiplied ten-fold.
-Thus, I hate going downstairs to vomit and shit my insides out.
It's the most vicious cycle ever.

My abdomen keeps screaming and growling at me and I feel bloated and stressed and aggravated by everything. I really don't think I've ever been so FUCKING MISERBLE.

Food Poisoning and Pointing West

This past weekend I was completely bedridden from food poisoning. Well, that's what I get for not washing my lettuce before eating it. Very smart thinking.
On a lighter note: I bought a pass for the All Points West Festival on August 8th at New Jersey's Liberty State Park (it's pretty, I swear). The line-up for that day includes Radiohead, CSS, Andrew Bird, Grizzly Bear, Mates of State, The Go! Team, Duffy, The New Pornographers, just to name some. SO MUCH AWESOMENESS in ONE day I can't take it! For those of you interested in going (and you should be): www.apwfestival.com

Recently I've been listening to the psychedelic 70's revival hippie rock of Fleet Foxes from their Sun Giants EP. It's good (refer to imeem to your right) but I still haven't made a full recovery to explain exactly why.
