My God, I've never been so insanely busy. Jason, Tiff and I got a new apartment in Chelsea. It's beautiful.
Here's Staceyface sleeping while we awaited Jason's arrival from California! Here's Staceyface's last night in New York before she flew off to Paris:Here's our shabby chich living room, pre-completion:The girls, en la cuisine:IKEA's delivery arrived, the assembly begins: We recruited our favorite neighbor to help, but it took Tiff and Steph 45 minutes to put together this single dining room chair: Wakiyama threw these Kinoki footpads into my basket, and this is what they detoxed from my body: Fínalement, magnifique, très très chic: N'est-pas? Tiffa, after a rough night:My desk, my life: The start of school was extremely rough, and I'll have to jump on the wagon, fast and catch up. This year will undoubtedly be the roughest year so I apologize in advance to my friends outside of my classes, because I probably will be out of touch until like, December.
Nonetheless we're having the best of times with the best of friends so it's all good, despite having only 10 hours of sleep the past 4 nights.
Friday was the first day of the highly anticipated All Points West Festival with Radiohead at its headline. The day's events ended to be life-changing. I spent the best day ever with the best person ever, listening and watching some of the best bands ever. I felt like it was all I would ever need.
The ferry ride to Liberty State Park, New Jersey:
Crazy speakers? Yes please. The Go! Team:Best person ever:Mates of State:The New Pornographers:CSS OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG LOVES! They were SO good!!!Andrew Bird, a truly talented musician, whistler, violinist, guitarist, writer, vocalist:The big wait before Radiohead, about an hour before their scheduled stage time. This is the group of people behind us:UGH. AND IT STARTS:photography by dilhak
Thom Yorke's voice was even more haunting and beautiful live than recorded. To have had such an experience with such tens of thousands of Radiohead fans gathered in one place, singing with and enjoying such a talented band was incredible. When Radiohead played, it was hard not to be completely submerged in the music. All I could think about was this music high induced by Thom's long and winding perfectly-pitched groaning, backed by Jonny Greenwood, who hardly looked up from his diligent performance, and of course Colin Greenwood and the drummer Phil Selway with Ed O'Brien. Incredible beyond words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a week.
Thursday, my hard drive failed out of nowhere-to the point where Tekserve couldn't even perform a data recovery. You could imagine my hysteria on the spot at the store when they told me that indeed, all of my music and photos and applications have disappeared into oblivion and I will never see or hear them again. That was really the worst thing that's happened to me in like, ever. Blah blah I was depressed and still am depressed but I've managed to recover about 9 of the 35 GB from my iPod and iPhone. Tekserve took it for a week to replace the hard drive. Luckily it was the week I had to go to Shelter.
Stacey Devoe came for a few days, bearing gifts, and it was amazing. Frankie loved her and her damn brownies and nail polish and Lisa Frank stickers:And Stacey loved Frankie back:We went to Wades Beach when the Jasper's grandmother took him to the doctor due to suspected pink eye: Loves it: Loves it even more: Not so loving it: So adorable I can't take it: So Jap had pink eye and his baby sister caught it soon after. Luckily Stacey, Nana and I managed to not get infected (only after hourly wiping the house down with disinfectant and washing our hands every 2 minutes). It was amazing even though I freaked out a couple of times from getting poked in the eye.
I came back to the city and picked up my laptop from Tekserve to find that in addition to replacing my hard drive, they also replaced my keyboard and faceplates so that it looks brand new. I also got an upgrade to Leopard so it was really like getting a new computer. A plus. I also learned that I might be able to get my purchases from iTunes back. Another plus.
HOWEVER, I have to spend a lot of time finding and re-downloading tons of music again and that's the big sucky part. Also sucky is the fact that I lost 2 years worth of photos because I didn't back any of that up.
Lesson of the Day for Life: Back up your computer every week.
APW is less than a week away and I have the next week off. Maybe things aren't THAT bad...eh?
